Introduction There were 3 John Roberts from one family. Firstly there was John Roberts (1716 -1797) who was born in Wales and settled in Bucks County. His 3 sons, Edward (1742 - 1823), John (1746 - 1836), and William (1755 - 1841) all moved to Charlestown township around 1810. William had a son John Roberts (1796 - 1863). There was also a Roberts family, Hugh / George / Elizabeth, who owned land in Charlestown in the 18th century but they were Philadelphia residents and the land passed out of the family in the early 19th century. |
1814 No John Roberts in Charlestown taxes 1820 John Roberts senior and junior in Charlestown taxes, no land owned, freemen. 1824 Cromwell Pearce, John Roberts and Bartholomew of Charlestown, trustees of the estate of James Isaac, sold tracts of 1 and 2 acres in Charlestown to Thomas H. B. Jacobs (Chester County deed X3-81). 1824 John Roberts senior, freeman, occupying 1 acre of land in Charlestown taxes 1824 John Roberts junior, freeman, occupying 34 acres of land in Charlestown taxes 1824 John Roberts senior, of Charlestown, purchased a tract of 1 acre 36 perches in Charlestown from David & Susannah Marys (Z3-22)1836 John Roberts junior purchased a tract of 1 acre 98 perches in Schuylkill for $90 from John & June Quimby (N4-22) 1836 John & Mary Roberts sold a tract of 19.5p to John Quimby (M4-541). This was part of a tract of 50 acres that Joseph Roberts purchased from John S. Davis, 4/1/1835, quoted in M4-451, but never recorded. 1844 John Roberts sells to John Williams for $100 1 acre 89 perches acres of land (deed A5-186) purchased by deed N4-22. 1845 John Roberts purchases 61 acres 37 perches of land from William Conard for $4,880 (deed B5-22). The tract was owned by John Sturk in 1799 and is shown on the map below 1845 John Roberts sells a tract of 86.5 and 18.75 acres to John Williams for $8,200 (B5-16), originally part of the property of William Roberts deceased. 1846 John Roberts sells to Ezekial Bowen a tract of 2 acres 37 perches for $211 56c (deed H5-16), being part of the tract purchased by deed B5-22. 1846 John Roberts sells to Ann Funk for $60 ½ acre of land, a limestone quarry in Tredyffrin (deed D5-115) 1856 purchases 17 acres of land (deed F6-39). 1857 (H6-370) 1857 (H6-458) 1860(M6-508) |
