Mennonite-Lutheran Church, Phoenixville

Deed History: On the 31st of December, 1798, David Buckwalter and Abraham Reiff purchased 158.8 perches of land from Jacob Buckwalter (David’s brother)1. They then transferred the property to Jacob High, Henry Roots, and Daniel Showalter, all of Charlestown, and David Longacre of Providence in a deed of trust2 - Meeting house is now erected…to be and remain a burying place for all Christian people of every religious denomination and for no other use whatsoever subject nevertheless to the direction of the elders of the aforesaid society of Mennonites only.

In the Mary Walker Roberts diary from the 1840s and 1850s there are a number of burials listed in the Minest burial ground, which is probably this site.

In 1875 the Mennonite Congregation was disbanded and the site transferred to the Central Lutheran Church.

The site is now occupied by the Historical Society of the Phoenixville area.
