Mine Descriptions

Copper Mountain Prospect, Wrightson district

The Copper Mountain prospect, located about half a mile south of the Anaconda camp, is on a 10 foot east - west vertical mineralized shear zone in andesite. It is opened by a 45 foot shaft and a 90 foot tunnel. The shaft contains about 15 feet of water. The croppings are stained with and contain copper carbonate and limonite. The carbonate is principally azurite, some of which is beautifully crystallized. Iron and copper sulfides are said to begin at the bottom of the shaft. The sorted ore is said to average 5.5% copper, 1.25 ounces to the ton in silver, and a trace of gold..

The mine is part of the Anaconda group.

Geology

Lensing quartz fissure veins containing calcite and barite, and with shoots, stringers, and seams of argentiferous galena, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, tetrahedrite and pyrite. Veins are often vuggy with mineralization banded or lining vugs. Wall rock is Triassic rhyolite and latite volcanics [Anaconda Group as a whole].5

Type of Operation and Production
